Root Chakra

Updated: Nov 25, 2022

The Root, or Base Chakra connects us to the physical world around us. Our Base Needs and Survival Instincts are also connected to the Root Chakra - our instinctive needs for food, shelter, safety and security, both physical and financial.

It represents our foundation and feeling of being grounded. The ability to stand up for ourselves is governed by the Root Chakra, as well as our flight or fight response systems and coping mechanisms. It is the base of our emotional needs and family relationships.

The Root Chakra harbours all of our old stories, traumas and anything you don't want to look at or feel for fear of it being too painful.

Physically, it is linked to the the lower back, bladder and colon. Our legs, feet, bones, large intestine and adrenal glands are also governed by the Root Chakra. It also represents our connection to Mother Earth, as well as the 'Souls' of our feet - both physical and etheric.

Below you can find more information about what the Root Chakra represents, how imbalances or blockages can manifest physically or emotionally and how to clear, restore and reactivate your Root Chakra:
