Everything is Energy. If you surround ourselves with stuff that you never look at, wear or use, you are taking up your energetic space with all this stuff leaving no room for anything new to come in.
Whether it be a wardrobe overhaul, that one drawer where everything gets thrown in any-old-how, kitchen utensils that never get used, or the little decorative objects around the house that make it feel cluttered more than anything else - we've all got something that we can get rid of to allow the New to enter.
One rule I always follow when having a clear out is I ask myself the question, "Does it bring me intense pleasure and joy?" If not then I need a pretty good reason for keeping it!
When it comes to clothes, we all have those 2 or 3 items that we bought because we absolutely loved them, and we never wear. We can't quite bring ourselves to get rid of them but we can limit the amount of unworn clothing. Every six months or so, go through your wardrobe and get rid of anything you haven't worn in over a year. Apart from those 2 or 3 bargain buys that you'll definitely get around to wearing one day!
We recently had a clear out of our old clothes. My husband was waiting for his next contract to come through and I told him that having a clothes clear out was the perfect way to create space for his new job.
After filling four huge bags I managed to forget which day there was a clothes collection in the village, and those bags ended up sitting there for six months waiting for the next clothes collection, and my husband was waiting for six months for his next contract.
The day after we finally took the bags into the village and created space in the dressing room (which is also the career area of our house feng shui speaking) Hubby finally got the call he'd been waiting for!
And what about those boxes/drawers of photos from all those years ago - mine were in 2 huge boxes in my parent's garage.
When they decided to downsize I realised that actually, I haven't looked at most of these in over 15 years, if not longer.
I went through them all, kept about 100 or so and got rid of the rest. I knew that if I kept them they would simply get transferred to our garage for the foreseeable future!
Having a proper clear out creates space for new possibilities, new beginnings, opportunities, relationships, friendships or even a new car, new home, job...the list is endless in fact!
