Change Your Perspective
Do you find yourself asking, "Why is this happening to me?" when something goes 'wrong' or something 'bad' happens?
And then try to work out the reasons by focusing on all that is 'wrong' with your situation?
What if every experience was a learning experience? What if everyone who crosses your path is there to teach you something in some way? What if every situation you perceive as 'bad' is actually bring you a wealth of good things that you never even stopped to think about before?
It could be that you're being shown how to let go of all that you can't control by living fully in the moment, without expectations or judgement.
Or perhaps you're being taught to accept things as they are, to accept that people see the world differently from you and react in different ways, or communicate their needs in different ways to you.
You could find yourself being forced to learn to be patient, compassionate, or how to set emotional boundaries to protect yourself.
The next time you find yourself in a challenging situation, out of your comfort zone or experiencing strong emotions, try asking yourself "Why is this happening FOR me? What is this trying to teach me? How can I grow from this experience?"
This shifts our perspective, allowing us to see things from different angles and understand the experience in a different, healthier and more positive way, which in turn allows us to take all that we can from the experience, rather than focusing on what we perceive as negative.
Our attitude then changes from feeling like a victim to feeling gratitude for all of the ways this experience has helped us to grow, evolve, heal and learn.
We can then take all that we have learned and apply it to future situations, as well as our current lives and relationships, ensuring that we don't have to go through the same lessons again - if you find yourself living through similar experiences time and time again it may be time to change your perspective, and change the way you live through these experiences!
